June 3, 2013

Hi Family

Alright, my guess is that you were at a Rockies game. Am I right? Also, mom did the computer eat your email again? You look really pretty in the picture. Your hair looks good and that looks like a good shirt. I am sure it was fun to be at a ball game again.

This week has been pretty unusual. We were in quite a few meetings and somehow missionary work exploded in our area. One of our investigators named Sasha (the Elders met with a couple times but now he lives in our area) we had a lesson with him yesterday and set a baptismal date for the 29th of June. Usually baptismal dates are more like a goal but for him I am 99.9% sure that he will be baptized on that day or before. He has already been to church the last 3 weeks. He came to church by himself after receiving an invitation on the street from the Elders, came and then he himself ordered a Book of Mormon. He is way cool. We watched the restoration movie with him and at the end he was like. "I have goosebumps all over" SWEET. The Sartori’s apartment is being redone to prepare for the new mission president and the 2 guys that are working on it have seen missionaries come and go forever and wanted to meet with some of them. So we did. They are way sweet. Dima had this dream of heaven and hell and he was waiting in line for his turn to see where he would go but he woke up before he found out. Now he wants to know more about that. And Artem is Armenian. He is really quiet but him and Dima are best friends. So we will see what happens.

Speaking of the new mission president, he went to the Doctor. to prepare to came and found out he had a tumor on his thyroid so they went in and removed it and found out it is cancerous and that the tumor goes all the way down his throat for like 7 inches. They will remove it and do some radiation and see if he can still come. Regardless the Sartori's will be here for another month until august and they might have to call a new president.  Sister Schwab (new mission president wife) said "our call to Russia probably saved my husband’s life." so we will be praying for them so that everything goes well. The Sartori's got the call in the middle of our meeting on Friday and President Lawrence (area president) told them to take some time to think about staying for an extra month and they just said "we don't need to. Of course we will stay."  I love them so much.

As far as the meetings we had this week. On Wednesday we had a meeting with President and the assistants and then on Thursday all of the district leaders came in and we had a council meeting with them and then on Friday it was just all the zone leaders. Tuesday we got things organized so...this last week flew by. But at the same time I feel like it has been months since I was in Saratov. Crazy!

Yesterday at church Sister Sartori asked me to translate her testimony and then she had the lesson in Relief Society so I translated that as well. Really that was one of the first times I have ever really been a translator so I was nervous, but I think it went well. It is way fun though, I love it!  Hopefully I will get more opportunities.  This week we will be here in Samara. The Sisters from Penza will be coming in and we will be doing and exchange with the sisters who live here in samara as well. We will still be in Samara next week and then the last couple of weeks we will be traveling quite a bit.

Last week I mentioned our apartment is nice and I won't really be able to explain everything but... we have air conditioning! And a stove that is pretty much American, and a beautiful fridge. Anyway it is sweet. And we have 2 showers.

Anyways, that is pretty much our week. I am so excited to be serving with Sister Scoville again. We just get along so well. I can for sure tell the Lord is blessing us. Everything is just working out so well. 3 cycles doesn't seem like enough. It is going to go so fast! Unfortunately...well love you so much! Have a great week! I can't wait to hear from you!
